Training and Development Specialist

Compensation: The position is paid monthly, plus any work-related expenses.

Responsibilities and Duties

NGO – Nonprofit Training and Development Specialist:

Job Purpose:

The role of the Training & Development Specialist is to deliver, consult, and coach team members in the field of education and child protection as per the target schools or projects. He/she will support the other trainers’ training delivery. The role oversees all training classes and delivers high-quality programming to our beneficiaries in all social classes.

Duties and responsibilities:

 Knowledge Transfer and technical support

  • Understanding and cascading the TOC and learning framework of the project to the team
  • Sharing learning and experience of training delivery with the team and freelance trainers
  • Participate in all project’s TOTs and capacity-building activities
  • Reflect on the attendee’s development, feedback, and comments through the agreed-on system.
  • Recommend, suggest, and evaluate design curriculum and communicate needs to the team
  • Review the M&E assessment tool and its effectiveness. 

Delivery

  • The  Training and Development Specialist is primarily responsible for the quality of program delivery in all locations. 
  • Ensure Heya Masr’s program runs as planned, including weekly checks and training as needed.
  • Coordinate all field activities related to the project, including meetings, training, field visits, and preparations.
  • Contribute to the development and/or adaptation of methodologies and to the development of high-complexity technical tools, including complete training packages (training needs assessment tools, training manuals and materials, pre- and post-post training tests), users’ guidelines, etc.
  • Delivering professional development to the team.
  • Oversee and track training modules in all classes.
  • Confirm the team’s input in the M&E system and evaluate it.
  • Hand out surveys to all attendees of modules for feedback on the quality of training.
  • Interview facilitators, hire them, allocate them to classes, monitor, motivate them, and evaluate them per set criteria.  
  • Work closely with team leaders and manage the facilitators.
  • Observe, monitor, and evaluate attendees of modules during the program.
  • Follow up and sustain good relationships and communication.

Design

  • Lead and participate in focus groups or brainstorming before designing new sessions or reorganizing the curriculum.
  • Participate in reviewing the training materials and handouts.
  • Conducting periodic needs assessments of the project phases and identifying the skills and gaps that must be addressed in the beneficiaries’ technical fields.
  • Produce e-learning materials for training and awareness sessions. 
  • Document lessons learned and best practices in monitoring and evaluation, and adjust programs accordingly after the director’s approval. 

Internal Reporting and Communication

  • Coordinate the training needs with the project team.
  • Coordinate with the team leaders on facilitators’ interviews.
  • Align with the program manager on the M&E results.
  • Attending and organizing meetings internally or with other partners.
  • Filling out and submitting direct reports to relevant parties.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings and team gatherings.
  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to project sites, including the conduct of data quality assessments using official tools, overseeing the preparation of monthly reports, and providing supportive supervision.

Qualifications​

  • Education: a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Specialized knowledge: a degree in education is a plus (Masters, Ph.D.). Arabic and English language skills and proficiency
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Office, Drive, and remote communication applications)
  • 2-3 years of experience in delivering programs or projects.
  • 1-2 years of experience in fieldwork, community organization, facilitation of group work, and supervision of initiatives.
  • Excellent writing skills are required in English and Arabic.
  • Independent, self-starter, and autonomous.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • High communication skills and effective communication.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to deal with challenges and problems.
  • Ability to problem solve and implement corrective action as needed.
