In the aftermath of the 2011 revolution, a group of Egyptian-American friends, including Moody, felt a strong desire to make a difference in their community. This led to the creation of Heya Masr, a unique organization dedicated to empowering women in Egypt and tackling the challenges of social inequality head-on.
The Need for Targeted Empowerment Programs
Moody’s research revealed a gap in existing organizations that support women in Egypt. Many were either focused on older women or lacked organization. Heya Masr recognized the need for a comprehensive program that addresses not only harassment but also broader issues like social inequality.

Building Stronger Personalities and Characters
Heya Masr’s vision extends beyond addressing immediate challenges. By focusing on character development, the organization aims to create resilient individuals who can navigate various circumstances, including harassment and social inequality. This holistic approach fosters long-term empowerment.
Empowering Women Against Social Inequality
Heya Masr understands that inequality affects women in profound ways. Through tailored programs, workshops, and mentorship, the organization equips women with the tools to overcome societal barriers, encouraging them to challenge norms and pursue their dreams.
Tackling Harassment and Beyond
While harassment is a pressing issue, Heya Masr recognizes that social inequality encompasses a broader spectrum of challenges. By addressing root causes and empowering girls with knowledge, skills, and support, the organization aims to create lasting change and dismantle systemic barriers.
Conclusion:
Heya Masr’s mission is rooted in a deep commitment to addressing issues beyond harrassment such as social inequality and empowering women in Egypt. By offering targeted programs, fostering stronger personalities, and tackling challenges beyond harassment, the organization is paving the way for a more equitable and inclusive society.
